ABOUT THE BOOK
Legacy of Berar: From Qazis to Nation Builders
This book documents the rich yet neglected history of Berar, a region once governed by sultans, nizams, and the British. Though the territory no longer exists as an independent entity, its people — The Beraris — remain culturally distinct. Through the lens of her own ancestral lineage of Khatibs and Qazis, the Author presents a compelling narrative of transition: from hereditary office-bearers to pioneering professionals in law, medicine, engineering, and enterprise.
Blending memoir, social history, and biographical sketches, The Beraris offers readers a rare glimpse into a community that adapted to change without losing its identity. It is both a historical record and a personal homage — ideal for readers of regional histories, family chronicles, and stories of transformation.
