ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wing Commander Vishal Anand (Retd) was born on 10 Jun 1975 in  Ranchi, Jharkhand. Owing to the transferable nature of his father’s job, Vishal did his 10th and 12th from Dimapur, Nagaland. Thereafter he did Electrical Engineering from REC (Now NIT) Rourkela, Orissa. He then joined the Indian Air Force in their prestigious Technical branch in the year 1996.

Vishal actively participated in the Kargil War and was awarded with Operation Vijay ‘Star’ and Operation Vijay medal. In recognition of his services rendered during OP Parakaram, he was also awarded with Operation Parakaram Medal. For his exceptional service record, he was awarded with commendation by the Chief of Air Staff in year 2014.

 In 2017, he underwent a Business Management Course at IIM Ahmedabad. After serving for 22 years in IAF, Vishal took premature retirement in year 2018. He is at present working with Alpha Design Technologies Pvt Ltd as General Manager looking after many Military projects which are of national importance.

On 26 Jan 2023, Vishal was selected to represent Armed Forces Veterans on the 74th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path. Standing tall on the First tableau of the parade, he proudly saluted the President of India fulfilling the dream aspired by every soldier of this country.

Vishal is married to Surya, who is an educator and has taught at many schools around the country. The couple have a son Ishaan, who is presently studying in class XII.
